It may or may not be common knowledge by now that on my back burner of things to do is the complete removal of Andrew Jackson from U.S. currency. I say "backburner" because right when my effort managed to gather steam last March, the "immigration protests" hit. That was the first of many incidents that would clearly take priority over my cause. I currently am waiting to calmer times so that Congress might be slightly more attentive.

But on to the point. . .

I stumbled across this web article the other day entitled "How to Celebrate Andrew Jackson Day". Thinking it to be a joke that someone would celebrate one of the most prominent racist and genocidal maniacs in American History, I read through this article. As it turns out, Tennessee celebrates "Andrew Jackson Day" on March 15 every year. What buffoonery is this? That was the question I kept asking myself.
Now, I hate to preach to you but I'll just come right out and tell you again that Andrew Jackson was a racist and genocidal maniac. Some "Fun Facts" are that he personally was responsible for the deaths of thousands of Native Americans. His beliefs and mentality also led to these United States of America claiming many thousands more natives through disease and through murder. If I may entertain you with some of Andrew Jackson's words, here is a quote taken from his Fifth Annual Message to Congress, "They have neither the intelligence, the industry, the moral habits, nor the desire of improvement which are essential to any change in their condition. Established in the midst of another and superior race, they must necessarily yield to the force of circumstances and ere long disappear." Personally, I want to know why Tenessee has failed to proclaim a holiday honoring Adolf Hitler.

I sent an email to "eHow.com", the host of the article. This is the email that I sent:

I was just browsing your website and I came upon an article entitled "How to Celebrate Andrew Jackson Day". I thought it was quite funny the things mentioned to celebrate a slave owner and racist mass murderer. Your "eHow Holidays & Celebrations Editor" should do his or her research before putting up junk like this. I'd like to leave you with this quote by Mr. Jackson, made about the Native Americans- "They have neither the intelligence, the industry, the moral habits, nor the desire of improvement which are essential to any change in their condition. Established in the midst of another and superior race, they must necessarily yield to the force of circumstances and ere long disappear."

This is the response I received:

Thank you for visiting out site, and providing us with some feedback. Readers may have their personal views and opinions in regards to our content, but eHow in no way is intentionally trying to offend any specific group. These articles we have on our site are mere references and learning tools. Thank you.

I like to think that "mere references and learning tools" don't blindly add to ignorance.

For more than half of my life, I have not known the real history of my country. I had to find that that information myself through buying and borrowing books. I had to find much that information in all corners of the internet. I encourage you all to research the aforementioned topic and others. There are countless resources awaiting you, online and off. One I can always recommend is "wikipedia.org".

  1. I cannot help but think that Jackson, this “racist and genocidal maniac”, shares the same crazed, hollow eyes of another president. Our current racist and genocidal resident of the White House ~ with his legacy of Katrina, Iraq and, not to mention, his passion for torture.

4 Reasons Why BET Is An Embarrassment To Black People

1. BET(Black Entertainment Television) did not air Coretta Scott King’s funeral on it’s station. BET claimed it wanted to offer viewers a different kind of experience by posting a live webcast on it’s website of the funeral where viewers could access it "at work, at home, traveling,[and] at school". Likewise, the four major networks; NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX all broadcast their own live webcasts on their respective websites. But these stations as well broadcast the funeral on television. C-SPAN and CNN also aired the funeral live. This reason alone proves that BET is the epitome of trash on television. And not to equate the struggle of blacks with Coretta Scott King, but there would be no BET without her. BET felt that viewers would prefer to watch women shaking their rumps in music videos rather than some funeral for a beloved civil rights leader. 2. BET is not black entertainment television. It does not represent the views and ideals of the millions of Blacks in the United S...

Black Salvage Blog of the Month: "Fed Up"

I would like to present to Black Salvage readers the first regular segment to appear on the site, "Blog of the Month". The intent of these monthly pieces is quite simple really; to provide awareness of many of the great blogs and sites out there relevant to our focus. [Below is a sample of the type of pictures that appear on this month's "Blog of the Month]. The first "Black Salvage Blog of The Month" recipient is author of the thoughtfully racist web log "Fed Up", which is home to dozens of anti-black writings(here is a link, http://intolerant.wordpress.com). The author, who goes by the pen name "Intolerant" has been writing about his love of hating people of the African diaspora since November of 2005. Stories on the blog range from jokes to serious pieces on the all the supposed ills of black people in the author's opinion. Before the comments questioning my reasoning for entertaining such a blog come in, let me first ask you ...

Racism on Xbox Live

Anyone who knows me well, or well enough knows that I do my fair share of video gaming. Now honestly, I never thought that video games would have take the topic of discussion on The Black Salvage, but here we are. . . Your’s truly was playing Grand Theft Auto online via Xbox Live the other day. Those familiar with online console gaming will know that there is a ‘forum’ type area before matches begin, where players can communicate with each other if they have the headset and do things like talk trash. . . or. . . .call Your’s Truly a nigger, filthy nigger(while imitating a Southern accent), and nigger-lover. Why any of this was even necessary is beyond me. And the expletives I and others were called was not limited to just these. People were expressing their hatred of Jews as well as Hispanics. The token Asian slur was also thrown about. One person even told me, that “blacks are only good for peanut-butter and basketball”. One player told me that "black people can't afford Xbo...
