Who Really Gave Birth to Humanity?

The Black Salvage would like to introduce to you the inagural article from the newest addition to our team, Cynical Jubilee. Since it’s the New Year and I’m new to the team, I find it very fitting to share some insight on the story of Genesis and propose a question that many choose to look over- Adam and Eve were the first two humans and they had two sons- Cain and Abel. One son kills the other, so:
WHO GAVE BIRTH TO HUMANITY?????


Where did where did Cain find a wife to reproduce with if there were no other humans on earth? Well, there are two books that come to mind that you won’t find in your KJV Bible that attempts to answer these questions. The first is a book in the Old Testament Apocrypha called "Jubilees" and it explains the beginning of creation starting with Genesis and ending with the parting of the Red Sea. The author is unknown but he tries to answer every possible question that may arise. You might as well call this book “Genesis—1st Draft”. The author claims that Adam and Eve had 9 sons and daughters. The youngest daughter name is Awan and she becomes Cain's wife and bears a son named Enoch at the end of the 4th Jubilee (one Jubilee=49 years). Just take a look at this passage from the Book of Jubilees:

"And Cain took ’Âwân his sister to be his wife and she bare him Enoch at
the close of the fourth jubilee. And in the first year of the first week of the fifth jubilee, houses were built on the earth, and Cain built a city, and called its name after the name of his son Enoch. And Adam knew Eve his wife and she bare yet nine sons.
And in the fifth week of the fifth jubilee Seth took ’Azûrâ his sister to be his wife, and in the fourth (year of the sixth week) she bare him Enos."

Now I can understand why the ancient bishops wouldn’t favor this over Genesis when they were canonizing the Bible. If this book has any truth to it, scholars would gouge their eyes out at the mere thought of putting a story of incest in the Holy Book.

The second—and maybe even lesser known—book in a series of Old Testament Apocryphal books is the book of Enoch. At one hundred and eight chapters, it’s like a mini Revelations that predicts the end of the world through Noah’s flood. The book also contains visions of the fall of angels who impregnate earthly women and give birth to giants. Sounds like a twisted version of MTV’s The Real World, but think about this: How many of you would read more of your Bibles if there were page turns after page turns of sordid incest and mythical beasts? These two books attempt to provide insight to the unanswered questions that commonly arise to those reading the Bible but why then, would these—and many others—be excluded form the final draft? Could the answers to these burning questions about the birth of humanity be found in the pages of the books that are rarely read or are they just fanciful fiction compositions? You decide.
